Constructing Concepts

Beginning in the summer when I was 13 years old I started working with my uncles building custom cottages and homes. I started off doing the general labour jobs and then worked my way up to framing and finishing carpentry. I didn’t realize at the time how valuable the skills were that I was learning.

I continued to work for my uncles throughout high school and with them I had the opportunity to go to Japan to build a North American style home from start to finish just outside of Osaka. During this project I learned the importance of hard work and deadlines (the tickets home were already booked when we arrived) while taking in a little of the Japanese culture as well.

After high school I attended college and tried a number of different positions. It quickly became clear to me that working in an office setting was not what I was looking for. Of the positions I held during this time, it was the management duties which I enjoyed the most. In 2003, along with a partner, I decided to combine the skills that I had learned in these positions along with my construction skills and I started a contracting business. We focused mainly on exterior renovations like vinyl siding, soffit, fascia and window installation.

On July. 19, 2005, I started 1664235 Ontario Limited operating as Constructing Concepts. At this time I began to focus more on interior renovations. I started my company because I felt there was a lack of high quality contracting options for customers. I often heard people complaining about the lack of professionalism and poor workmanship performed by trades people.

Since the beginning I have been providing my clients with highly professional services. I believe in doing excellent work that my clients will be proud to show to their friends and family. I feel that it is important to be transparent and up front with my customers about material and sub trade costs as well as possible challenges we may face during the course of their renovation. With these beliefs in place I have built strong trusting relationships with my customers and am proud to say that my business is primarily made up of repeat business and referrals from past clients.
